Netanya

Common description

Founded in 1929 as an agricultural settlement, the city quickly became one of the important tourist and industrial areas of the country. Named after the American philanthropist Nathan Strauss, in 1948 the settlement received city status. The first inhabitants of Netanya in the 30s of the XX century were swept by an “orange fever”: Netanya was buried in citrus plantations that have survived to this day.
