Kythira

Common description

Kythira is an island in the Aegean Sea, near the Peloponnese and is one of the Ionian Islands.

Convenient location makes it easy to get here, but this is not the main advantage of Kithira in the eyes of tourists. Kythira is rich in its long history, its specific culture, its many small beaches, its huge number of churches and its well-preserved traditional villages. In addition, in ancient times, the island was thought to be under the patronage of the goddess Aphrodite, and today romantically-minded couples are rushing here as to the island of Love. However, still the main flow of tourists to Kythira is not foreigners, but the Greeks - which, however, for someone will only be a plus.

How to get to Kithira
Ferry from Peloponnese, from Gifio, Kalamata or Naples, or from the Piraeus port of Athens. Another option is a transfer plane in Athens or Crete (there is an airport that takes local flights to Kithira).
